It seems like Omar Minaya is repeating his game plan year in year out. He is slow playing every possibility and looking for a strong hand to play. Whether it ends up being a trade or two or a lower price on a free agent, I am not sure. This much is definite, Omar is checking in on everyone, I think even a bat boy or two.
Another possible outfield solution has popped up alongside Josh Willingham. Juan Rivera of the Angels is available and the Mets may be going after him. According to some sources, the Angels may be interested in moving Rivera and some other players (Gary Matthews Jr.) to save some cash and possibly make a run at Roy Halladay, or possibly to retain John Lackey.
Rivera is a solid player and plays decent defense. The problem is, it seems like such a move would really end up with the Mets settling and not going for the power bat/name of Matt Holliday. If they don't want to play second fiddle to the Yankees, then why makes moves like they are?
