Jon Paul Morosi is tweeting the the Mets and the Nats are going after Jason Marquis and that the Phillies might even be in on him as well. Marquis earned $9.875 million from the Rockies last year and won 15 games. Based on that, do you see him taking a pay cut?
I wouldn't mind Marquis, and supposedly he wants to be a Met. However, do you think he signs for anything less than Randy Wolf just got from the Brewers? Wolf got 3 years and just under $30 million, plus a 4th year option. I would not go any longer for Marquis than two years. I don't know if that gets it done with other teams involved.
Marquis pitched 216 innings last year, won 15 games , and has seemed to turn around his gopher ball issue. He allowed 15 last year and the same the previous after having allowed 35 in 2006. I think he is a gamer and someone you can count on to take the ball. He wants to be out there and that's probably what the Mets need a little of, fire.

He stated that he would take a Home paycut to play for the Mets which makes him even more wanted in Citi by us Mets fans well at least me.

I hadn't heard that. Marquis, Sheets, and Holliday? What do you think?

That would be Great Exactly what we need. Marquis said that about 3 weeks ago it was on espn rumors insider. What do you think for Catchers I mean it's almost obvious tht were going to have Molina but I can't see why we don't push for Doumit the Pirates owe us for taking Perez lol but seriously he would be a nice fit plus he plays first as well. Any thoughts?

For Marquis i think we will land him soon and cheap for two or three years I just don't see him accepting a contract from the Nats or Phils. Specially growing up in NYC and being a Mets fan (Although he was a Brave)But they Drafted him.

The catchers available just stink. That being said, how much better is Molina than Torrealba? Yorvit is nearing a deal for 2 years, but only around $5-$6 million total, not each year like Molina will likely get. Maybe its wishful thinking, but I think the Mets could get away with a revolving door of Thole, Coste, Blanco, and Santos. Focus on positions of strength, not the crappy catcher's position.
