David Lennon is reporting that the Mets and Omar Minaya are finally starting to discuss contract terms (money/years) with free agent pitchers so this could start to lead things to develop. According to Minaya, there are several free agents in the mix including Randy Wolf. Several reports throughout the day have all but sent Wolf to Milwaukee on a three year deal. Although the deal may go through, Minaya reports that all lines are still open with the free agent lefty.
One would have to assume that the meetings with agents for John Lackey, Joel Pineiro, and Randy Wolf will most certainly have to lead to numbers, Minaya is known to take his time with contract details.
Similarly, but without the Wolf name popping up, Joel Sherman mentions the names of John Lackey, Joel Pineiro, Jason Marquis, Jon Garland, Doug Davis as Mets targets. I have to say the Mets should sign at least two of the guys. I think Jason Marquis would be a solid choice. I think he would do well in NY. Doug Davis and Jon Garland I am not high on.
Another name that popped up that both the Mets & Yanks have called on is Kelvim Escobar. Coming back from surgery, Escobar has had favorable medical reviews and was nasty pre-going under the knife. He is worth noting.

Lackey and Marquis would be nice and if we trade Maine i say we go after Sheets after a year and a half off he should be stronger then an ox again and would probably give 180 innings at least.

I am sold on adding Ben Sheets. He would be a great pickup provided we brought in some healthy guys as well.
