ESPN is reporting constantly up to date material here. Jerry Crasnick is saying that the Padres have informed Kevin Correia that he will be non-tendered since the two sides cannot come to an agreement for next year's salary. The 29 year old righthander won 12 games for the Padres last year and had a pretty good season in 2007 as a reliever for the Giants. The Padres paid him $1.1 million last year and do not seem to think he is worth a raise. If they cannot afford to pay this guy, trade Adrian Gonzalez already and rebuild with prospects and cheap chips. What is the point and who are they going to put in the starting rotation? I do not get it.
Someone is going to snap this guy up. He certainly can hold his own as a 5th starter or a solid reliever. I would love for the Mets to try and sign him. I am sure they won't as they are currently trying to send all their money to the fat Bengie Molina.
Maybe after all of the uproar in the industry, the Padres will try to trade this guy before they have to non-tender him. Good luck to him, he has got to be happy to leave San Diego and at least hope to go to a decent team.
