I read a great post today in the NY Daily News. Bill Price writes a great rant on why the Mets need Manny. There are some great points, including the fact that nice guy or not, Manny gets it done. He seems to think it will take a five year deal at $22-$24 million. I don't think it will be that much. I think when all is said and done, four years at $22 million should do it. I just do not see a team going five years.
Price brings up the fact that between the platoon of Murphy/Tatis, Castillo at 2nd, Schneider behind the dish, and even Ryan Church in RF, there are a lot of question marks offensively.
Besides Church, I agree with the other three question marks. What can you expect from Murphy/Tatis? Can you realistically expect 25 homeruns? They certainly will not bang in 100 RBI. Manny, besides blowing those two out of the water production-wise, would obviously help to protect other bats in the lineup.
When the winter meetings kick i, we all know Omar is going after pitching every second he is there. I am on board here with Bill Price, let's do lunch with Scott Boras in Vegas.
